Who Is This Philly Chick?

Hello world I’m Danyell Huffman, I’m a 29 year old jack of all trades.  I reside in the never-dull city of Philadelphia.  I’m a lover of life in general; however, one thing that I’m passionate about is my writing.  It’s the ultimate way for me to express myself and given life’s natural ups and downs, there’s a whole lot of expressing for me to do.  I have not been able to write as much as I would like lately, so I’ve created this blog as my creative outlet and for your entertainment purposes.  One of my ultimate goals in life is to have my work published.  I’d love to write and have a book published before I leave this earth, and The New York Times Best Seller list wouldn’t hurt either :-).

A little over a year ago I got an offer that would drastically change my life.  I was offered a job in Philadelphia.  I should probably take a couple of steps back and let you know that I was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan but I was raised in Phoenix, Arizona for most of my life.  The furthest east I’d ever been was Michigan, so taking this job would mean stepping in to a completely unknown territory for me.  What the hell…let’s do it!  One thing I do want to point out is even though work was the #1 reason that I became a Philadelphian, you’ll notice that I will never talk ‘work’ on my blog.  I’m a firm believer in keeping various areas of your life separate (work/relationship, etc.).  Even though I’m pretty amazing at what I do, you’ll never hear me blab about my career because that’s not why I created this blog.

Okay, now back to my actual story.  Imagine growing up in suberbia where you were one of the few black people in the community (I’m talking very few), to a city that is ‘for lack of better words’ the ultimate melting pot. I never knew what I was missing, lol.  But now that I know I wouldn’t change it for anything.  I can promise that you’ll get a better understanding for who I am, views of Philadelphia from and outsider, and, guaranteed laughs…the good, bad, and unusual.  Happy reading! :-)
